On the 7th of October, we held a meetup to show participants how to set up an Android Things development board.

The goal of the Meetup was to show Android developers how to take advantage of the IoT platform. The kit we made use of was the one I brought back with me from Nairobi.

Nnamdi and Demilade took charge of the kit as soon as I returned. The only thing better than getting a gift is having someone who appreciates the gift. These guys tore into this kit as soon as I arrived. Thanks, Google!

Today’s event was scheduled to last two hours, with a 30-minute slot dedicated to hardware assembly. That part took longer than anticipated because the assembly did not boot up.

After trying to verify that everything was as it should be, a decision was arrived at to proceed with showing participants how to build and deploy applications for Android Things.

The participants were engaged, with a few asking questions that show they were trying to marry ideas they had in their heads to what they were learning.

We will have to run this Meetup at a future date. We will have two kits at that session, so that we have a backup for our demonstrations.

It was a small meetup, with only about 11 attendees.

I finally learnt to take photos at the end of events
